Calling all cyclists (outdoors and in-!)

Hershey’s annual Tour de Pink four-day bike ride will launch this fall from Hershey, Pennsylvania, and end in New York City. The ride will raise money for the Young Survival Coalition, a network of breast cancer survivors and supporters that focuses on concerns unique to young women with breast cancer—and you can participate from home or the gym!
Hershey’s is offering the opportunity to be a “Virtual Rider.” These riders can accumulate their 210 miles (or more) wherever and however they want—even on an exercise bike or in spinning class. After you register, you receive a personal web page and other support for fundraising. If you raise $250, you’ll also receive a Tour de Pink cycling jersey. You just need to complete your miles by the final day of the “real ride,” Oct. 6. If you start now, that comes out to about 35 miles a week. Imagine how many miles you could rack up just replacing some of your driving with biking.
If you’re logging the bike miles already—whether at home, on the road or at the gym—why not contribute to a good cause at the same time? And if running or walking is more your style, consider this.
