I make a lot of references here to the gym, particularly for strength training. But lots of people don’t have gym memberships, and, the truth is, you can do an effective strength workout at home with resistance bands.

Remember when cross-trainers were the latest thing in athletic shoe world? Sure, you do—you’re in your 40s (or thereabouts)! The idea was that you could wear one shoe for all types of activities—running, tennis, basketball, weight-lifting, etc. The shoes’ popularity seems to have faded over the years, but the concept of cross-training has survived because of its many benefits.
