More bikes, fewer accidents

We know deep down that we should ride our bikes more often, whether for pleasure or transportation. The benefits—environmental, economical, physical—are undeniable, but safety concerns can keep us (especially those living in cities) in our cars. It turns out, though, that international research leads to a counterintuitive conclusion on safety: “As cycling participation increases, a cyclist is far less likely to collide with a motor vehicle or suffer injury and death.”
