Gear every woman needs?

October 30th, 2008 by Barb

The Woman’s Health web site features a slide show of “The Right Stuff: 10 pieces of gear every woman—yes, even non-jocks—should own.” But there’s a catch: If you bought each of their recommended items, your tab would come to almost $2,700. That strikes me as a bit excessive, but I’ll let you judge for yourself.

1)   a lightweight waterproof jacket (WH recommends the $199 North Face Diad)

2)   “do it all” running shoes (Brooks Glycerin 6, $120)

3)   sweet sports shades (Oakley Endure, $155)

4)   a spine-friendly day pack (Mammut’s Energise Duo, $139)

5)   a light, nontoxic water bottle (Sigg Think Green aluminum bottle, $25)

6)   a durable exercise band (Spri SportCords, $25)

7)   a gym bag that doesn’t scream “jock!” (Sherpani Blaze, $65)

8)   a barely there music player (SanDisk Sansa Clip, $60)

9)   anti-chafing bike shorts (Zoot Sports CycleFit BioWrap Shorts, $80)

10) a bicycle fit for you (Giant OCR AOW, $1,800)

Total cost: $2,668

Ultimate value if these things motivate you: priceless.
