The ins and outs of sports massage
Thursday, January 8th, 2009
Every two months or so, I go in for a “sports massage” on the lower leg that gave me so much trouble in 2007. The guy who does it is actually a chiropractor, but he’s not doing the adjustments or other things you’d normally associate with a chiropractor. Instead, he really works over the muscles (to the point where I’m grimacing in pain), stretching them out and breaking up scar tissue. At least, that’s my theory—an article in the New York Times recently questioned the effectiveness of sports massage.
