Sports “foods”: Do you need them?

I’ve used this space to write about various “sports foods”—like Sport Beans, sports drinks and energy bars—in the past, but I have to admit that I rarely consume such products. I’m not really hard-core enough to require the extra nutrients to fuel myself, or to justify the expense. As a nutritionist writes on Active.com, there is a time and a place for some of the foods, but you often can get by with conventional foods from your grocery market.
