Welcome to Fun and Fitness for the 40-Something, the blog for an often overlooked demographic. Plenty of magazines and web sites cover “fitness,” but much of that material is targeted at younger women, with an emphasis on weight loss.

FF40 is for real women in their 40s juggling daily life—not your Sheryl Crow/Courteney Cox/Dara Torres types (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). And instead of offering diet and weight loss tips, it gathers and shares useful information for improving your overall fitness. I’ve found that approach to be more fun and more effective. Focus on the fitness, and the rest will follow.

As for me, I’m a 40-something freelancer who writes primarily on legal and financial topics. I was drawn to blogging by the prospect of doing some less formal writing on something that matters to me—finding the balance between enjoying life and maintaining fitness. I guess you could call it having my cake and eating it, too!
